It pissed me off when I was typing something in a low-light situation, and took 15 seconds to get a sip of water or try to think what I was typing, looking something up, etc and NO DAMNED lights on my keyboard. Unlike my older Dell, there was NO way to make the light stay on. They\’d come back on only I would either touch a key or \”hover\” my hand over the middle of the alphabet part of the keyboard. NOTHING that I did, though, would keep the lights on any longer. Long-story-short, after I had the laptop for a few days, I had one BIG complaint and nothing I could do would fix it: the 5558\’s keyboard light kept turning off after 10 sec AND there are only a couple brightness levels and they\’re controlled with the F10 key and you go from Off, to bright, to low, to Off, etc. I bought it over a year ago and I was used to the backlit keyboard on my previous Dell, where you could turn it on, and change it to different levels of brightness. Very commonly we can see these kinds of labels in automobile and aerospace industry.I have had my Inspiron 5558 signature edition. The main idea is to illuminate the graphics or symbols only when you want the user to see it. Dead front backlit keyboards are designed so that the symbols or graphics are not visible unless the graphics or symbols are lit up with a light source. Linepro also has the In-House capability to produce the most demanding dead front keyboard and dead front overlays. But, there are backlights that emit other colors, too. Most of the keyboards illuminate white lights.

Most illuminated keyboards allow you to adjust the brightness levels. Usually, the background light illuminates the small area around the key, which further improves the visibility of the keyboard. The print on the keys is semi-transparent which allows the light under to shine through. The backlight illuminates the letters and symbols of the keys to make them visible in areas with low light. A backlit keyboard also known as illuminated keyboard is a keyboard that contains light under its buttons.
